The scientific research of SAUM is conducted within its 8 faculties being oriented to 7 accredited research profiles: Agronomy, Horticulture and Forestry, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Medicine, Economics and Management in the Agro-Food Sector, Cadastre, Land Resources and Land Law. Also, for the purpose of organizing and conducting applied scientific researches ordered by different enterprises and related to specific research areas of SAUM, it was organized an innovation park with 8 specialized research centers and laboratories. The subdivisions of SID operate in different fields, with budgetary and extra budgetary funding, based on research contracts with the economic agents from the rural and industrial environment, or government institutions, the activities of which place our university among the leading scientific centers of the country and the world.

Also there have been developed scientific relations with CIS countries. The didactic staff has participated in over 500 international scientific conferences and symposia, where they presented the unique results of scientific investigations accomplished within SAUM.

In the modern period, the names of SAUM scientists became noteworthy due to the creation of new plant varieties and hybrids, local varieties, animal and poultry cross breeds, improved breeds of farm animals, expanded intensive fruit growing plantations and vineyards and also due to the development of modern mechanization and automation technologies of the agricultural processes and of other related industries, creation of new agricultural machinery, equipment, devices, composite materials, pharmaceutical products, etc. During this period, 15 scientific yearbooks were published, the scientific journal Agricultural Science (2005) began to be published, and about 200 PhD theses were elaborated and defended. These achievements eloquently represent our university and help it to maintain a level of respect and appreciation both at the national and international level. The scientific results of university scientists represented and still represent the basis of technologies used in the agriculture of our country, recording remarkable progress in various fields.

University’s aspiration is to be competitive and efficient in research areas and it is also connected to the successful competency management of the scientific Vice Rectors: A.
