About Republic of Moldova

Moldova is located in Eastern Europe, has a total area of 33,843 km2 and it borders with Romania to the west on a length of 450 km and with Ukraine to the east on a length of 939 km. The country was declared independent on 27 August 1991 when the USSR space collapse.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moldova

Most of the country is situated between the Nistru and Prut rivers. Western border of Moldova is formed by the Prut River, which joins the Danube river before pouring into the Black Sea. In 2007 Moldova has opened Giurgiulesti International Free Port (GIFP) only Moldovan port accessible to ships, located at km 133. 8 (72. Seas 2 mile) of the Danube in the south of Moldova, which opened the sea route for the export and import in Moldova.

Due to rich soil and temperate continental climate, Moldova has very favorable conditions for agricultural production, which make it known in this part of the world as a country with high intensive agriculture production.  Moldova's capital Chisinau, is an industrial and commercial center. Chisinau is Moldova's largest city and considered as one of the greenest cities of Europe. It is the largest industrial and cultural center with many educational institutions of Moldova. Ethnic composition of Moldova: according to 2004 census population consists of Moldavians - 76.1%, Ukrainians - 8.4%, Russians - 5.8%, Gagauz - 4.4%, Romanians - 2.1%, Bulgarians - 1.9%, other nationalities - 1. 3%.
