During 08-09 October 2020 the SAUM eDrone Project implementation team participated in the Educational for Drone (eDrone) Project Consortium Meeting.
The meeting was organised online by project partner, Tbilisi State University, Georgia. The working sessions brought together representatives of the 17 project partner universities.
The participants in the meeting were welcomed by Prof. Pasquale Daponte and Francesco Lamonaca, representatives of UNISANNIO, the international project coordinator, by Lasha Saghinadze, pro-rector of Tbilisi State University and Lika Ghlonti – head of the Erasmus+ National Office in Georgia.
At the opening of the event, scientific reports were presented: Akaki Maisaia, Head of the Department of civil aviation agency of Georgia: "State Regulations of Drones in Georgia", and Salome Khachiauri, Agency for Innovation and Technology Geogria: "Governmental support for Startups".
Prof. Pasquale Daponte on behalf of the project coordinator – UNISANNIO, presented the main results obtained in the eDrone project.
Increased interest was the presentation by Davit Chechelashvili, Ilia State University, Tbilisi and Teona Chachua, co-founder and director of Copter, dedicated to the main challenges in "Academic Environment - Business" relations and the development of the drone industry in Georgia. Other issues addressed at the meeting concerned: trends in civilian applications of drones, the use of drones in 3D scanning, challenges in the construction of drones in Georgia.
A special topic of the meeting was the estimation of the work of the national offices "Drone Education" in the partner countries, which had the mission of accreditation and organization of courses on civilian drones. Representatives of the State University of Moldova, (Mr. F. Paladi and Tatiana Bulmaga), State University of Tbilisi, Georgia, (Natia Giorgadze, Prof. Giorgi Jibuti, Beqa Goginava, Givi Janibegashvili and alt), National Polytechnic University of Armenia, or. Yerevan (Grigor Babayan) shared with the experience of organizing and carrying out this activity.
Participants in the meeting had the opportunity to participate in a virtual trip to the National Office "Education for Drones" of Tbilisi State University.
During the Meeting, the consortium members discussed issues related to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on activities within the eDrone project, the state of the art of deliveries in: Armenia, Belorus, Georgia, Moldova. It was also reiterated that the political situation in Belorus and Armenia made it difficult to carry out the project, so the request was made to the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) for an extension of the project eligibility period until February 2021.
In the context of the completion of the project (14.10.2020), the representative of the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture (EACEA), Mrs France Dantin, appreciated the preventive results of the project, called into question the project management, the efficient dissemination of results, financial aspects, the sustainability of the project.
Presented the main aspects of the correct preparation and submission of the reports in the established terms: technical and financial, it answered the questions put by the participants in the meeting.
Finally, Prof. Pasquale Daponte and Francesco Lamonaca, made the necessary recommendations, stated the timetable for the presentation of the final documents for the successful closure of the project, answered the participants' questions.
