Within the Department of Animal Husbandry, State Agrarian University of Moldova on February 20th, 2019, a working meeting of the national partners within the Ag-Lab project was organised. The meeting was attended by representatives of the project from Moldova State University of Agriculture, Comrat State University and Republican Veterinary Diagnostic Center.
The participants discussed the project tasks provided in the project's working program and assigning the roles to the elaboration of the manual for laboratory practice for master students.
Following the purchase of the equipment, SAUM demonstrated the units bought that will be installed in the laboratory of the Department of Animal Husbandry.
The working teams discussed the possibility of exchanging members of the project for teaching in UASM and USC, as well as the providing the laboratory work for the masters at the Republican Veterinary Diagnostic Center.
According to programme of the project "„Improving skills in laboratory practice for agrо-food specialists in eastern Europe (Ag-Lab)” in the period 26 / 03-30 / 03.2018 at the University of Environmental and Life Sciences took place the second meeting of partners from different countries.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the State Agrarian University of Moldova, , coordinator Elena SCRIPNIC and project members Larisa CAISÎN, also members of the project from different institutions in Ukraine.
The working visit of the team began with the official meeting with the administration of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
The members of the project participated in the product examination by applying the PCR techniques that took place in the Food Hygiene Department.
According to the program, the working group visited the Veterinary Laboratory in Wroclaw where they participated in the microbiological, serological, chemical examination of the samples collected from different farms, feeds used in animal nutrition, also analyzed the examination methodology used in this laboratory, the equipment, different biosecurity measures and procedures.
The visit of one of the most modern Polish meat processing companies was organized. During this visit to SA Tarczynski, the working group was familiarized with the technological processes for the production of different salami assortments, the regulation for the implementation of different quality management systems applied within the enterprise: GMP / GHP, HACCP, IFS, BRC.
The microbiological and serological examination used in the diagnosis of pet animals and cattle took place in the “Epi – Vet” Clinic for infectious diseases. The project partners organized a visit to an accredited "Agro-Vet" laboratory where the samples from poultry farms and samples of meat and eggs produced at different poultry units in the country took place.
Workgroup participants were familiar with the regulations used to accredit an agro-food lab.
In the period 9-12 July, 2018, State Agrarian University of Moldova organized the second working meeting within the project “Improving skills in laboratory practice for agro-food specialists in Eastern Europe” (Ag-Lab), hosting the partners from Ukraine, Georgia, Slovenia, Poland, Italy, France and Bulgaria.
The work program focused on the meeting of the Coordination Committee and the training session for partners representing all participating institutions.
The event was opened by the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, Secretary of State Alisa PIRLOG and SAUM Rector, dr. hab., Professor Valerian BALAN. The event was attended by the representatives of the Embassy of France in the Republic of Moldova and the Erasmus + Office Coordinator in Moldova Claudia MELINTE.
Project Coordinator Marija KLOPCIC presented the project budget for the first six months and started the equipment purchasing procedure. European partners carried out an analysis of the first training sessions that took place in different partner institutions in Europe, followed by the actions taken to disseminate the obtained results and those envisaged in the future for the implementation of the project dissemination strategy.
Each partner presented the achievement of his/her activities under the planned work packages and project co-coordinator Ludmila STEPURA discussed project’s work plan for the next six months.
According to the work program, the participants at the meeting made a study visit to the Republican Center for Veterinary Diagnosis, where they became familiar with the accredited laboratory methods and indices used in this institution.
The third workshop of the project „Improving skills in laboratory practice for agro-food specialists in eastern Europe” was organized on December 4-7, 2018.
SAUM was represented at this meeting by Liviu Volconovici, Rector of the University, Elena Scripnic, Vice Rector for International Relations, National Coordinator of the project and Larisa Caisin member of the project. The national and international partners of the project were present at the workshop. During the workshops, topics were discussed with reference to the Identification of falsification of dairy products (physical and chemical methods), detection of the fatty acid composition of the fatty part of the product, Identification of authenticity and falsification of wines, juices, honey and other foodstuffs by nuclear magnetic resonance method, Methods of mycotoxines detection in grains, hazelnuts and other crops: ELIZA, LC/MS-MS, etc.
The partners presented the report on the project activity during July-December, 2018. Project Coordinator Marja Klopcic proposed the program of the project activity for the next six months.
Project members had the opportunity to visit veterinary laboratories in Lvov city.
On 28th of December the Project Improving skills in laboratory practice for agro-food specialists in eastern Europe /Ag-Lab/ was monitored by the National Erasmus + Office. This meeting was organised at State Agrarian University of Moldova. The meeting was attended by all national partners: State Agrarian University, Comrat State University and Republican Centre of Veterinary Medicine Diagnostic.
During the monitoring all the partners have presented the achievements during the first year of the project.
National Erasmus + Office have come up with proposals and recommendations on strengthening the continuity of project activities.

11.The Scientific and methodological Centre “Agroosvita” (SMC “Agroosvita”)
The aim of the project
The main aim of the project is to improve the quality control of agro-food products in the countries which have recently become associated EU members by improving upon the training of their specialists. The project deals with the part of the Agreement related to food and agricultural products safety which can be ensured through appropriate laboratory control and approximation to EU legislation and standards.
This will be achieved through three specific objectives:
-To create specialized master courses dedicated to the laboratory practice for the specialists of the agro-food sector in UA, GE and MD (veterinary medicine, agronomy, animal husbandry, food technologies);
-To create at special courses at the university partners for the post-diploma training of laboratory staff working in the agro-food sector;
- To update the training courses provided by laboratories to their staff;
-To create new practices of collaboration between universities and laboratories on the basis of mutual profitability: creation of an exchange platform enabling to adapt graduates’ skills and competences to need of the labour market, to provide the continual curricula updating and to provide regular updating of the skills and competences required for agro-food laboratories staff.
The project outputs are of 4 categories:
- Elaborated training courses and obtained necessary competences for students and laboratory staff;
- Trained teacher’s teams;
- Pedagogical supports;
- Created tools for cooperative teaching with the participation of universities and acting laboratories staff.
